Nikk May: Private Studio For Voice | Piano | Guitar

"The studio is intended to be an equal opportunity resource for students, collaborative artists, performers, as well as those seeking private lessons and musical training in voice, piano, and guitar. Given the extended scope of students and clientele around the world, the following policies are to ensure equal fairness and accessibility to those requesting studio services."

Vocal Coaching. Private Lessons (Voice, Piano, Guitar). Songwriting. Composition. Music Recording and Studio Collaboration.

Introductory Lesson: The studio offers private instruction by application only, providing specialized training and lesson design exclusively to both professional artists and student level clientele. For the best learning structure and tangible progress, prospective students should be prepared for at least 4 to 6 months of instruction. Before a new student is taken on, an introductory lesson will be conducted to assess and determine base-level expectations including practice requirements and overall lesson performance. Introductory lessons are billed as a single, one-time charge of $48/30-minutes, $72/45-minutes, or $96/60-minutes, payable by credit/debit directly through the studio’s emailed invoice system. Introductory lessons are reserved exclusively and are non-refundable. Appropriately following an introductory lesson, a standard appointment time may then be offered subject to availability. Given the type of structured teaching and classes provided, those unable to commit to following through on lesson material and weekly assignments will be ineligible to receive scheduling.

Schedule & Tuition: The studio functions on a weekly reserved appointment system designed to provide the most effective learning structure and to best serve the interests of all of its students. Lessons are held at the same day/time each week, students need only commit to a month at a time and may discontinue by providing written notice in advance before the start of their next billing cycle. Standard classes beyond an introductory lesson are billed as a recurring monthly tuition of $184/30-minute, $276/45-minute, and $368/60-minute weekly classes, processed automatically each month through the studio’s invoice system using the submitted payment details. Tuition is divided into equal monthly payments for simplicity and convenience based on an average of 46 class weeks per year and a rate of $48/30-minutes, $72/45-minutes, and $96/60-minutes. In observance of most major national holidays, vacations, and scheduled time off, certain months may contain more class weeks than others following the posted annual studio breaks calendar. Class times are reserved exclusively for each student and are non-refundable, including missed lessons due to student no-show or absence (see provided make-up class structure below). In maintaining schedule accuracy with associated teaching networks, performance organizations, and professional referral sources, classes must be paid as outlined.

Absences: In the event a student needs to miss a scheduled lesson due to illness, travel, another event or outside conflict, a personalized virtual make-up class will be prepared and received through the studio's NoteSpace Lesson Hub. These customized classes address the same specifically tailored content and material that would be covered in the student’s face-to-face session using video tutorials/uploaded sheet music/PDF files/bullet point notes/recorded audio/media links/and more. This allows the student to work through the lesson at a time that’s convenient and additionally ensures consistent progress. Make-up classes are only eligible with advance notice provided by the student via the online absence form at www.NikkMay.com/absence-form any time before the scheduled lesson would begin. Without proper notice a make-up class will not be able to be received.

IMPORTANT: Any missed appointments should be submitted beforehand at www.NikkMay.com/absence-form. Because of the studio's schedule type (reserved appointments only) and setup with various performance/teaching affiliations, this is the only way scheduling adjustments can be made. Correspondence of absence outside of this protocol (made by email, text message, voicemail, etc.) is unable to be properly recorded. The absence form can also be found upon entering the website, directly under the "Student Resources" menu.

Student Recitals/Concerts: Recital participation is not mandatory but is encouraged! Recitals are free of charge and take place seasonally throughout the year. Recitals consist of a combination of students in voice, piano, guitar, as well as violin and viola from collaborations with Jennifer Berg Violin Studio. Recitals also include vocal and instrumental ensemble performances featured through various student duets, trios, and combined participation.

The next recital will be on June 20th, 2026 at 1:00pm and 3:00pm at the Farmington Hills Community Auditorium, located at 32737 West 12 Mile Rd Farmington Hills 48334.

Competitions and Performance Events: Classes can be tailored to provide students with the best musical preparation for those pursuing competition involvements and/or audition-based opportunities. Such competitions have included various district, regional, national and international events, with organizations such as The World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA), American Guild of Music (AGM), MSVMA Solo & Ensemble, Federation, and others. Student involvement with other notable organizations include Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in both their summer programs and international choirs, as well as Interlochen Center for the Arts. Students are also supported in theatre auditions and perform regularly on local stages.

Media Disclaimer: Personal videos, photos, and/or media recordings of any kind are prohibited from being taken on-site. This serves to protect the privacy interests of the studio as well as those of the general clientele including artists, songwriters, recognized performers, and any copyright claims against pre-release of original work and/or performance material. All recitals, student concerts, and public venue performances may be freely recorded unless otherwise noted. Additionally, the studio captures, produces, and shares select media including performance videos, recordings, photos, and other media from featured lessons, classes, and concerts.

Acknowledgement: In fostering a positive, welcoming, and inspired atmosphere, in the event a student or related individual’s behavior is disrespectful, inappropriate, or not in accordance with the policies outlined above, classes pertaining to such student may be discontinued without refund. By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to the policies and terms outlined in the studio agreement. Thank you!
